hobo cat

Hobo cat has taken up residence in our living room because I don't have the heart to take away the cardboard box.

velcro kitty

For the first 24 hours after we return home, Scout is practically velcroed to us. It's equal parts adorable and annoying.

Heroes Con!

We are safely back from Heroes Con in North Carolina and had the best time!  Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat, get a sketch or pick up a book.  It's so overwhelming to see how many people are enjoying what Chris does.  Thank you everyone for all your kind words!

lunchnotes written by life

I went back and forth about if I should get an author credit in our Lunchnotes books (on sale at Heroes Con this weekend!). The truth is that about half of these notes Chris makes up himself and the other half are him transcribing things I say or do. So yeah, I write them too, right??

growly belly

You may notice that most Lunchnotes here on out are drawn in a real artist's pen. Now that I know we're going to publish them (Volume 4 at a con near you next summer!), I've asked Chris to stop using ballpoint pen or pencil. Or glittery pen. It's just too difficult to make show up well when re-printed. So don't worry, now that Lunchnotes is big-time, it might look a little nicer, but it will still be drawn on the back of our page-a-day calendar.

flying lulu-linda!

Last Friday, Chris and I went to see Circus Flora with two of our favorite people Cindy & Cullen Bunn. Circus Flora is truly a St. Louis treasure. This is the second year we've been and both years I have been absolutely floored by the talent and hard work of the performers. If you find yourself in St. Louis in early June, you must check it out!

Speaking of talent and hard work, Comic Book Resources did a very nice piece on Chris, so go check it out.

Also, I know I don't need to remind you one more time, but I'm gonna! If you haven't yet entered our Crossover Contest, you have until Friday, June 12 at 11:59 p.m. to do so. You can enter once here and once on Chris's blog - we're each giving away a prize consisting of all three volumes of Lunchnotes and a copy of Chris's 2008-2009 sketchbook. Good Luck!

Crossover Contest!!!

As you know, I've been working on a Lunchnotes book! Well, get ready to have your minds blown, because the secret I've been keeping from you is that I've actually made THREE volumes of Lunchnotes, each collecting notes from a previous year (see covers below). To celebrate this historic achievement, I'm giving away one set of the three volume Lunchnotes mini-comics to one lucky Lunchnotes reader.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!! Because I've also been chained to the computer making a sketchbook for Chris to sell at comic conventions this summer, I'll also give our lucky winner a copy of that!

IS THAT NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU PEOPLE? Good! Because there's one more twist, Chris is doing the same giveaway contest on his blog so you may enter once here and once there! THAT DOUBLES YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING! ARE WE AWESOME OR WHAT?!?

Okay, okay. You get it. Now what do you have to do to win?

Simple. All you have to do is leave a comment to this post saying someting nice about someone you love. It can be something nice about a parent, spouse, partner, sibling, child, significant other, friend, pet, etc. I don't care, just show someone who means something to you some love. 'Cause Lunchnotes is all about the love!

Winner will be chosen by a random number generator. You may only enter ONCE on this blog. You have until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, June 12th to enter. Winner will be announced on Monday, June 15th. Good luck and thanks for your support of Lunchnotes!

Pep talk!

While I wouldn't say Chris suffers from any sort of artist angst, there are definitely moments when he is working this hard that he needs a bit of encouragement. Since I'm not home most of the day, I like to send him email pep-talks to keep his spirits up when he is completely exhausted and unhappy with everything he puts on paper. Everyone needs a pep talk from time to time, so if you're having a rough day . . .

Keep up the great work! You're doing a fantastic job! I'm so proud of you! This looks amazing! You're almost there! Keep at it!

proofs

We got back a proof for my lunchnotes mini-comic and while we're still working to try and get it to look right, it has been so much fun looking at notes from 3-4 years ago. Each of these notes serves as a small snapshot of our lives that day, so it's fun to reminisce about all these little things that we had forgotten. I hope those of you who pick up the book have as much fun reading it as Chris and I have these last few days! There should be a few more details and a CONTEST posted here next week!
