still tired

This note is from a few months back, but I don't think it got posted. Have I mentioned how tired I am? The only thing that's keeping me going is knowing that tomorrow afternoon I will be inhaling the particleboard-smelling air at Ikea and blissing out amongst the fliffens and the flurefns.

back home

Carpet has been installed in the basement and things are really shaping up down there. New baseboard trim and stair rail will go in next weekend, along with some fresh paint where the installers got kinda overzealous! Building a bar out of Ikea bookcases that should be done that weekend as well. Yay, basement is almost done!
We got back home from Heroes Con in Charlotte, NC on Monday. We had a wonderful time catching up with old friends and making new ones. Thanks to everyone who came over to say hi. Comic book people (fans and creators) are really the greatest bunch of folks around.

just . . . trying . . .to . . .make . . . it . . . through . . . this . . . week

This week has really kicked my ass. I would say I'm looking forward to this weekend, but alas it is filled with many things to do as well. I am excited about the new basement carpet that will be installed on Monday. And Heroes Con next weekend! I think the trip to Charlotte will be the closest thing I get to a vacation anytime soon. And I am so sleeping in and ordering room service while we're there. I'm seriously angling for a very nice espresso machine for an anniversary present next month. If only I can sell Chris on buying the machine, making me lattes every morning and then training the cat to bring them to me . . .
Charlie (our goldfish) passed away last week. We had him for almost three years and I genuinely enjoyed seeing him every morning on my dresser. We've decided to hold off on anymore goldfish because of our furry little predator in the house (even though she was perfect with Charlie - never seemed very interested). I would like a turtle or a puppy but Chris squashed both of those ideas.
I feel like this too, only instead of a gun totin' cowboy it's my ginormous to-do list yelling at me.

bye trees . . .

After losing the umpteenth big-ass branch off the large tree remaining in our back yard, we decided it needed to go. While getting estimates, we were told the large maple in our front yard was dying (a result of the major digging necessary to repair our lateral sewer line four years ago) so that one got put on the chopping block as well. Yesterday they came and cut both trees down which makes me totally sad beause I totally heart trees.

technical difficulties

So the only people that may understand this note are Chris and myself, along with the DSL repairman who had to come fix our telephone line when "somebody" accidentially snipped the line during some "light construction" in the basement.
